4 Laser Therapies for Younger Looking Skin
Aging is a natural part of life, but that doesn’t mean you have to let your skin age without intervention. If you want younger looking skin, here are a few laser therapies you might want to invest in.
DOT Therapy
Dermal Optical Thermolysis (DOT) therapy is an excellent treatment that can help reduce the signs of aging. It’s also commonly used to help reduce the appearance of acne scars on the skin. This particular treatment uses a laser to create a “dot” pattern that consists of thousands of near-microscopic skin perforations. The areas around these perforations, however, are kept intact and undamaged. The nature of this wrinkle reducing treatment allows for a much faster healing time than with other lasers. After your treatment, you may experience some redness and skin peeling, similar to a sunburn. In most cases, the skin will be fully healed in about a week. So if you’re in a hurry and don’t want to wait two full weeks for healing, DOT might be a good option for you.
Fraxel Re:pair
Fraxel is one of the best laser therapies on the market for skin rejuvenation. Not only does it help reduce eye wrinkles, it can help with all-over wrinkle reduction and even reduce the appearance of sun damage on the skin. The results achieved are similar to what you’d see after a series of traditional laser treatments but Fraxel Re:pair comes with a much lower risk. This type of laser treatment is ideal for resurfacing soft tissue and has been approved by the FDA to treat a number of skin issues.
Fraxel Re:store
While the name is similar, Fraxel Re:store is a bit different than Fraxel Re:pair. This type of laser treatment targets aging and damaged skin with a process that stimulates the production of collagen within the body. Collagen is what helps skin look supple, smooth, and firm. When we stop producing it, wrinkles and sagginess can settle in. This particular type of Fraxel treatment is most commonly used on the face, chest, and hands. It has been used to reduce the appearance of scarring, age spots, and melasma. Healing time is relatively short and this treatment has been FDA approved for all skin types.
IPL Therapy
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Therapy, also known as laser photo rejuvenation, is most commonly used to treat dark spots on the skin. Whether these spots are the result of age or sun damage, IPL is the go-to therapy to regain an even complexion. The lasers used in this therapy target melanin in the dark spots on skin. Treatments are relatively quick, and healing time is minimal, as well. After an IPL treatment, you can expect some skin redness around the treatment area. After a few days, the spots treated will flake off, much like a sunburn, and you’ll be left with a much more even complexion.
